Toys have evolved from the simplest of dolls to tech-integrated feats of engineering, but the simple action figure, a toy typically defined by various points of articulation, has always been a staple. Many long-running brands, such as Transformers, G.I. Joe, He-Man, and Marvel, to name a few, continue to put out products to this day, but there are also lots of new toys to explore. This is possibly one of the coolest bits of Sonic the Hedgehog memorabilia to come along in quite some time. The robot pairs well with the line of toys that Jakks Pacific has been creating, as the size scale fits the ratio of the games well enough for any hard-core Sonic fan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What really ties this toy together, though, is its playability. Using the included catapult, players fling a balled-up Sonic at the robot\u2019s chest. Three direct hits result in an explosive victory for the blue blur as the robot\u2019s limbs fly off in all directions. The robot also features retractable jetpack flames and launchable robot fists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some reviewers report the arms not holding a pose very well, mostly due to the pop-off gimmick; otherwise, it makes for an awesomely nostalgic display piece or plays item. Even years after the influence of Sonic\u2019s Sega Genesis games, there are still plenty of fans whose fond memories are enough for them to want an item like this. While Fortnite may be best known for its battle royale action and the ability for players to build structures in the blink of an eye, the costumes, and characters that players can become, have appeal outside of the video game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The absurd mashup of cute and bulky makes Meowscles one of my favorite character designs of recent memory. This particular toy features two expressions, a nice set of accessories, and 41 points of articulation for posing glory. As soon as I saw this character, I hoped that a toy would eventually be made. (So, yeah, its existence puts a big dumb smile on my face).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For an even more swole swagger, Hasbro offers the Shadow Meowscles Deluxe Pack under its Victory Royale series for about 10 bucks more. This set has a similar action figure, now sporting a darker costume and facial expression, as well as a massive bench press and additional accessories. Thankfully, this has resulted in a whole slew of new action figures, including the Origins line of retro-style figures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Similar in stature to the classic \u201980s toys, these classically inspired designs now feature better face sculpts, more points of articulation, and a wider range of accessories. All the favorites are available: the vile Skeletor, the fierce Battle Cat, She-Ra, Orko, and more! Various vehicles have also been recreated for this nostalgic line.
